Next If there is more than one person living in the home then it needs to be determined who
holds the headship position of that home. In most cases the spiritual leader of the home is deemed
to be the man of the home (the father, the husband), but ideally if a married Christian couple lives
in the home it would be great for both the husband and wife together and in agreement dedicate
and bless the home.
Note: If the husband's wife is more practiced in the area of prayer and he (the husband) would prefer she (the wife) to be the one to pray over the home and property this would be no problem, but they should still do it together if possible. The spiritual leader, or husband and wife can also opt to ask a minister of the Lord, or an anointed Christian friend to come in and dedicate and bless the home on their behalf. For whatever reason they would prefer someone else to dedicate, or bless their home is fine.
In the case of a marriage where the husband is not a Christian, the woman would inherit the spiritual headship under Christ to dedicate and bless the home unto God, but the husband would still need to give his agreement to have the home dedicated to God otherwise how effective would that dedication be if he was opposed to it. This type of marriage (one spouse a Christian and the other not) could prove to be very challenging for the Christian and give satan many opportunities to work against the peace of the home especially if the non Christian opposes Christian beliefs, or if he/she has many issues, or unhealthy desires. Mind you there is the possibility that the Christian spouse will win over their spouse for the Lord.
Leave satan no loopholes, or legalities. If you are the rightful spiritual leader of your home and for whatever reason you would have another Christian dedicate and bless your home and property unto God, as I said is fine, but you should clearly express and give unto the person interceding on your behalf your consent to have the authority to do so. When it comes to authority there is a proper protocol which needs to be followed and having the rightful person administrating the Blood of Jesus Christ is important.
One thing we need to realize is that satan is a "legalist." Satan knows how he can gain the right to impose himself into a person's life, and satan knows he can remain in a situation until he is commanded in the proper way and by the proper authority to relinquish his hold on that situation. If there is any loophole by which satan will not have to comply to Godly authority you can rest assured that satan will use it.
Here is a prime example. Jesus Christ had said "If you ask anything in my name I shall do it." He was telling us that we are empowered (as a Christian) under His mantle of Power and that we had authority under His cloak of Authority to do even the things which He had been doing, but that we needed to follow His procedure of doing things to have access to that "power and authority." Satan knows the word of God and by the example I just gave satan does not have to budge his position if we do not speak the proper authority against him, (by making our requests known using the name of Jesus Christ.) Why? Because of what the word says.
John 14:13-14 NIV 3 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
John 16:23-24 NIV I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
We
can use the word of God against satan, but satan can also use it against us.
Satan diligently watches over everything we have to say and do waiting
for an opportunity to gain a open door into an area of our life through a
sin we may commit, and satan watches us with great interest when we take a
stance against him for he is looking for a loophole, a legal right not to
have to obey what we command of him. Satan uses the word of God against us
and as his guide. If the word of God says it then we are to comply to it,
or if the word of God says we are not to do something then we shouldn't be
doing it. The consequence for not following and abiding by God's word and
His Holy Spirit's direction is satan.
The reason I had said that in a marriage that the husband is deemed to be the spiritual leader is because this is how satan looks at it. Why? Because of such scripture as what Genesis 3:16 says. Because of satan's deception and Adam and Eve's rebellion in the garden, God imposed some consequences. First to satan, second to Eve and all women then to Adam and all men. This is what God imposed to Eve and women.
Genesis 3:16 NIV 16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
Because this scripture has God decreeing that a woman's desire would be to respect her husbands wants and that her husband will rule over her (I know the word rule sounds terrible, but it does not mean to enslave a woman to her husband, but it does mean that the husband should be respected as the spiritual leader) satan will not be quick to respect the authority of the wife in regards to family, or home matters unless it is shown to him that the husband is in agreement to her using that authority for the affairs of the home and family.
Another scripture that reenforces that scripture is 1 Corinthians 11:3 NIV 3 Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
As I said satan uses the word of God against us and as his guideline and so this is why I say when blessing a home the man should be respected as the spiritual leader, otherwise satan will use this scripture not to obey. I realize that many Christian men are not stepping up into their headship positions and this is to his shame and to God's. More can be said on this subject, but that is another teaching in it's own.
