What this prayer will achieve, or what praying effectively will achieve for a believers life. It is my intention that this written prayer the “Daily Maintenance Prayer” will achieve many things, but that it would accomplish two greater purposes.

First that it would get the newer Christian covered and protected under a healthy covering of prayer and have the newer Christian effectively inviting the working hands of God and His Holy Spirit into their life each day, even though they as a newer Christian would not have the knowledge yet to know how to speak that covering in place, or to bring the fullness of God’s power into their every situation.

The second purpose being for the older Christian to use a prayer such as this one as a guideline to help give them the best possible covering of God’s protection while also encouraging the Holy Spirit to take them to even deeper levels with the Lord. The closer one gets to the throne of God the more satan will step up his attack against that person’s life and their family so as to stop them from walking in that greater purpose God has for their life. That being the case this is even a greater reason why prayer should be even more frequent and prevalent for the older Christian. The bible says to pray unceasingly for all things and that is the position we as Christians are to take and that is a part of our role as a Christian.

Mark 14:38 NIV 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

Ephesians 6:17-18 NIV 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV 16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

James 5:13-16 NIV 13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

I know that there are some Christians who are of the belief that God is going to protect us and fulfill our every need whether, or not we ask God to do these things. Whether, or not our walk with the Lord is as faithful as it should be. Whether, or not we are attempting with a sincere heart to grow and walk in the Lord’s knowledge. Just as long as we have made the declaration that Jesus Christ is our Lord, but this is not what the word of God says. Jesus Christ said many things such as I will do anything that you ask the Father in my name, He said whatever you bind is bound, as well as Jesus said “If you love me keep my commandments.” but I don’t recall where He said you just need to make me the Saviour of your life and I will do the rest. Jesus did not say stand aside and I will take care of your every need, just go on with your lives and wait till the trumpet blows.

God needs for us to enter into the race that is set out before us and God needs for us to run toward the finish line as a person who is running to win. God needs for us to pick up our swords to diligently fight anything and everything that would attempt to hold us back from walking in the fullness of His Glory and from crossing that finish line. We need to fight and oppose every negative and sinful influence that would try to infiltrate into and oppress our life. We need to fight everything that would attempt to rob us of our relationship with the Lord and the work which God has begun in our life. God will do His part, but we need to do our part.

The Lord needs for us to adhere ourselves to the plan of salvation He has set out for our lives and for a person to learn all of what it means to be a Christian and to adhere their lives to the wisdom of that knowledge is going to require much effort on their part. It is much more than saying some words to invite God to begin a new work in us, it is about setting to the task of learning how to make God number one in every area of our life so that He can complete this work. We need to learn as much as we can about the Lord and learn who we are with Christ. We then need to utilize what we have learned and become a doer of that gained knowledge. Did you know that we can nullify what we ask for in prayer if we are not attempting to learn the ways of the Lord, or attempting to live by those ways?

When we do our part God will do His. To be protected from the evil one each day as well as living righteously we need to pray that protection in place over our lives and the lives of our family each day. To close doors and restrict the evil one access to our lives we need to look and see where we may be giving satan access to trespass into our lives and then we need to make every effort to deny satan that access and pray those doors closed. To have the Holy Spirit living more deeply within us we need to make more room within ourselves for the Holy Spirit to live and that will come in the process of our growth and the process of God purging us. This will come by the refining of our soul and the training our souls receive in the process of our relationship with God. But equally important this will happen when we encourage God to refine us by His fire and when we desire more of and invite the Holy Spirit to have free reign of our lives.

If we want to be changed by the working of Gods hands into what God would have us changed into then we need to recognize what it is about us that needs to be changed and ask God to help bring about that change. At the very least if we are not sure what needs to be changed then we can give God permission to work on us in whatever area He sees fit, but some situations require that we recognize what needs to be changed in our life and specifically invite God into that work. If a person has pride then he/she needs to recognize this in themself and recognize that this is a quality that a Christian should not have and they should petition God to help them in this change until they have victory with Christ over pride. In our growth with the Lord we will begin to recognize what part of us needs to be changed by Gods hands and learn to pray accordingly for that change.

We need to be in agreement to whatever change God is wanting to bring about for our lives and give Him free reign to bring about that change. How do we do that? By first recognizing the need in our self to change and desiring for that change to take place for we cannot change unless we first desire to and secondly by continuously seeking God to reveal to us what we yet need to do before He can complete that change in us. As I said if we do our part God is faithful to do His part.

We need to invite God into our every situation in that God can work in that situation, but one thing I want to say is that God does not continue to let the suffering suffer in this world for the sole purpose that they did not give God a cordial and proper invitation to relieve their suffering. God does not allow the struggling to struggle alone in this world by themself for the sole reason that they did not cordially and properly invite God to help them in their struggle, their sickness, their oppression etc. Yes we do need to invite God into our every situation, but it is not for the sole reason that God wants a invitation, but it is because God needs that invitation. For us to get any type of spiritual victory over oppression and against the spiritual enemy to God’s throne we need the fullness of God’s spiritual intervention working on our behalf and that first happens when we invite God into our every situation.

Can anything hinder God from intervening on our behalf? Yes for this is why there are so many people suffering and struggling in this world, and this is why there are many Christians still suffering in areas of their life. Many things can hold God back from intervening on our behalf such as un contended sin in our life, or lacking the desire to learn of and grow with the Lord, but one of the biggest obstacles holding God back is ignorance, “lack of knowledge.” For the non Christian it is the lack of knowing what Jesus Christ can do for their life if they would first surrender their lives unto Him, and adhere their lives unto His ways as they receive that knowledge. For the Christian it is the lack of knowing how to bring God into our every situation and the lack of knowing who we are in Christ.

As satan finds new ways to come against and personally attack us in our weak areas we need to call upon God and petition Him in the name of Jesus Christ to warfare against satan to rectify what satan is doing against us. We should never personally respond in our flesh without the Lord’s help to the spiritual attacks and oppression which satan puts against our life otherwise we are going to find ourselves in a lot of trouble. Every situation that presents itself to a believers life will serve to see how we are going to respond. How will we respond to a new and fearful situation that we have never encountered before? How will we respond if in the blink of an eye we find a strong oppression overwhelming us? Will it be by trusting that God is bigger than that situation and by calling upon God to help us? Will it be by taking authority over that situation by the Blood of Jesus Christ? Will we respond to that situation without God? Will we be overcome by the fear of the moment and let that fear manifest? Perhaps we won’t know what to do.

We as Christians should respond to all things the way that God is attempting to train us to respond in as sinless a manner as possible and using the knowledge that we have gained along the way in our walk with God. We should respond to every situation and circumstance by bringing God, His Holy Spirit and the Blood of Jesus Christ into our every need. If we don’t have that knowledge yet working in our life, (the Lord’s knowledge) then we need to learn it and grow in it. If our response to a fearful situation is to become afraid without taking authority over that fear with the Blood of Jesus Christ then that fear will empower satan to maintain a stronghold of fear over you. If we don’t bind the fear it may bind us. The same goes for if we find our self in a situation that is provoking us to anger (or causing frustration to arise in us) (or causing jealousy to stir up in us) or whatever that situation may manifest we need to realize what that situation is doing to us and we need to respond in as sinless a manner as possible. We need to call upon God and bind that anger, frustration, jealousy etc, before those emotions have a chance to stir up even more in you and cause you to sin. Nothing spoils the witness of a Christian more than for other people to see us provoked to anger etc. This is satan’s ploy that he can provoke us to anger, or provoke us to sin, and he often does it when we least expect it. Satan also uses the unresolved hurts in our life to provoke us by and this is another reason we need to surrender our hurts over to the Lord and have God work on removing those hurts so satan has no ammunition to use against us. Remember if we don’t think to bring God into our struggles then we won’t have God in those struggles until we do.

On a positive note if a situation does come up where you are provoked to anger, etc, then satan has shown you an area of your life that he has access to provoke you by and so you can start calling upon the Lord to rectify that anger by the Blood of Jesus Christ and start the process of closing that port of access which satan has had.

A prayer spoken by a Christian who understands who they are with Christ and who knows what their role is as a Christian can move mountains in the spiritual realm. That believer can speak healing to the sick and bring those things that are consumed by darkness into the Light. They can pull down demonic strongholds and demolish their works with the Blood of Jesus Christ. They can deliver another believer from the cords of bondage and can do great things for the Kingdom of God because of the Holy Spirit that dwells in them. But all these things are only possible when that person has the knowledge of God living in them and working through them. All things are possible with God and through God in prayer, but we need to effectively speak God into our every situation, and or against every oppressing work that comes against our life.
