How do we bring the fullness of Gods power into our life? Or a better question yet is how do we empower Gods power in our life? The answer is the Knowledge to know how.
Knowledge is essential for a Christian and an important factor that plays into the healthy development of our souls and knowledge is a key that unlocks many prison doors. How do we bring the fullness of Gods power into our life through knowledge? By seeking to know how to make God number one in our life. By seeking to know who we are as children of God through a relationship with the Creator. By seeking to learn how to pray effectively, walk in Christs authority and apply the Blood of Jesus Christ into every aspect of our walk. By seeking to learn more of what God wants of you and what He wants for you . God has much that He wants to teach you and God is going to use people and situations by which to teach us by but our eyes need to be open and our souls ready to receive that which God wants us to gain in each new revelation He gives us.
We need knowledge. We cant preach the good news to other people until we first have the knowledge to know what that good news is can we? We cant grow in a personal relationship with the Lord until we first have the knowledge to know what a relationship with God is, can we? We cannot nullify any of the negative influences that are in this world and which satan works against us by until we first have the knowledge to know how to do that. When we make the decision to make Jesus Christ our Redeemer we need to realize that we have a lot to learn. We also need to realize that upon making Jesus Christ our Lord that it is Gods intention that we enter into His school of learning, His training program for it is Gods plan that each one of us gets educated to know who we are and who we are to become through Him. Not only should we realize that we have a lot to learn but we also need to make every effort to learn as much of what Gods Holy Spirit is going to attempt to give to us.
To be effective against the works of satan in this world and to counter the oppression which he may have against us we need to know what satans agenda is in this world to better understand what we are dealing with in satan. We need to know how satan operates and recognize what empowers satan in a situation so that we can tear down his strongholds and redeem the situation through the power of Christ. We need to know such things as what is giving satan the right to trespass himself into a situation so that we can take that power and legal right away from him through the Blood of Jesus Christ. Having said this we need to have the knowledge of Gods wisdom abiding in us and working for us so that we can effectively rectify satans works in this world. Before we can effectively use the power of Christ in whatever area of our needs we first need to attain the knowledge and spiritual understanding to do so. God is always attempting to prepare us for new growth as He is always working to develop us for greater growth in Him. God is about change and growth for He wants us to be transformed into something new, something greater than what we were before He started working in our life.
Ephesians 4:11-15 NIV 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
2 Peter 1:3-11 NIV 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
According to Peter it seems that knowledge is not only an empowering factor in our lives but it is also essential and necessary for us to have a victorious walk with the Lord. See what he says in verse 10 and 11. 2 Peter 1:10,11 10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
So is it knowledge alone that empowers us to be an effective Christian? No there is more, we also need to have faith to trust on the Lord for our needs, faith that our prayers will achieve what Jesus Christ says they will achieve and we need to be faithful to apply the Blood of Jesus Christ where it is needed.
Matthew 9:20-22 NIV 20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed." 22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.
Matthew 9:28-30 NIV 28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord," they replied. 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; 30 and their sight was restored.
John 14:11-13 NIV 12 I (Jesus) tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Is that it, knowledge and faith? Is that all we need to become an empowered Christian. No there is more. We become empowered by striving to live a righteous life and by continuing to conform ourselves into the image of Christ as we grow and learn more of what we need to conform ourselves to.
James 5:16-18 NIV The prayer of a righteous man/woman is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
1 Peter 3:12 NIV 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
Proverbs 15:29 NIV 29 The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
In righteousness when a Christian acts upon what they have gained in Holy Spirit knowledge, and they put their faith in action becoming a doer of the Word of God, they become an empowered, effective Christian. When we seek to minister to those who are in need (the lost, the hurt, the defeated, hopeless, afflicted, ignorant, and seeking) and to help them in whatever situation they are in, we are demonstrating the love of Christ and fulfilling our Fathers plan for the lost and hurting. To have the knowledge to know how to loose Gods power into a situation, or to bind up the works of satan in this world and boldly doing so for the Lord, is pleasing to God.
James 2:14-17 NIV 14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Matthew 25:34-36 NIV 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
Mark 16:15-18 NIV 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
It is a sin to be trained up in the knowledge of God through the teachings and examples of Jesus Christ and by the direction of the Holy Spirit and not use that knowledge for the Kingdom of God. As it is a sin for you to know what God wants for your life and for you to choose to avoid that path.
